charlie
CHARLOTTE R. GARROTER
"CHARLIE"
Used to be a damned good bounty hunter before she retired. Now she’s spends her days running a doomed scrapyard on the outskirts of Clawhammer and trying to shuck the responsibility of running the equally doomed town.

Lu
LUCILLE GARROTER
"LU"
Runty 12-year-old girl child, apple of Charlie and Vikor's eye, and town nuisance. Vikor appointed her the scrapyard’s official stable master, so she has that going for her as well. She’s scrappy, a little mean-spirited, and fearless to the point of uncontrollable recklessness. Her guardians’ influence is fairly obvious here.

Santiago
ELIAS F. SANTIAGO SOTOMAYOR
"SANTIAGO"
Pleasant and charming to a fault, with a smile like a warm hug. It’s damn near impossible to catch a sour-look on this man’s face, even when he has a gun to your head.

GEORGIA GUNN
Bubbly, outgoing and profoundly amoral. She escaped Scion after a relationship gone bad finally sent her over the edge. Was always deeply unsuited to the place, but it’s not an easy one to get out of. Now she hunts bounties for the WI, though she’s still a little green. Got her license only 4 years ago and has been relishing her work for all of them.

NOVA MINH LE
Utterly dead-pan and severe manner of being, which makes it all the more surprising to learn she’s funny as hell. Hard-core neon goth aesthetic outside of work (and inside of work as much as she can get away with).

JOANN MASON
"JO"
Rough in every direction. Her maternal instinct is surprisingly nonexistent considering what she eventually became to her community. She says she wants nothing to do with any of it, but she keeps one eye open for these hopeful kids anyway.

CAIN CAGNEY
One of the few of Rhapsody’s old guard still kicking, considering his thinning of the herd all those years back.

ravi
AARAV MAJHI
"RAVI"
Hans’ bookkeeper, best kept secret, and the mastermind behind some of his more successful projects. Finicky, mean, little hipster who is above all else very aware of his mortality. At this point, he’s reasonably comfortable with both his ability to handle Hans and Hans’ ability to run his side of things properly, but that sure as hell doesn’t mean he’s going to get complacent. He’s seen Hans at his worst, and he’s seen less competent outfits go belly-up in the blink of an eye, so he remains very aware of his mortality. That constant awareness means has a plan laid out for every eventuality, sometimes even for the eventualities of those eventualities. Hans’ calls him a neurotic little weirdo, but since when does the pot listen to the kettle.

AMES M. BEAUMONT
Vikor's distant and neglectful father, who disowned him pretty much the first time he ever went against his wishes.
Successful industrialist in North Hesperon. In the business of raw materials and has prospects all over, but his place of residence and original mine is in Grindstone, a town built and run by his father before it was passed down to him. He has a force of over a thousand workers, over 80% of the town, in a stranglehold; He controls the economy in it’s entirety here as long as business is good, and he makes sure it stays good by running his workforce ragged.
Universally hated among working-class Hesperites, who pity those who have to seek work under him. He keeps the various groups looking to do his business harm under control with private security, giving him an even bigger reputation as a huge asshole.
This is why Vikor avoids using his last name whenever possible, especially in the basin. ‘Beaumont’ is a pretty infamous household name and he’d like to avoid folks connecting the dots.
DR. HARPER MILAN
Accomplished medical engineer and the maker of Vikor's prosthetic. Got Vikor into a trial study for a prototype as a favor to Charlie, and they developed a nerdy friendship as he became her star test subject. He was an engineering student for a hot minute, and his interest in robotics gave him enough insight to have relevant input for the project.
His arm still needs adjustments he can’t do himself every once in a while, so their friendship has continued to develop over the years, to the point that she’s one of the very few people Vikor will talk to without needing to. After all, he has to get his thoughts on his various projects out somewhere, and she has to see what kind of baffling mess he’s made out of her prototype this iteration. Not to mention whatever other lunatic things he’s doing to his machines.
LIJAH COOPER
Vikor’s handler, aka the one who gives him his bounties. Liked it a lot more when Charlie was the one he worked with.
Tolerates and covers for his many infractions of policy because he makes him a lot of money, not because he has ever fallen for even one of Vikor’s extremely shitty lies, contrary to the man’s beliefs.
CLAYTON KILBRIDE
Rancher that owns a big swathe of land on the outskirts of Clawhammer; the jerulo he raises to sell are what brings most people down to the decrepit little town these days. He’s known Charlie since she was a girl, and as such has a lot of fondness for her and Lucille, who spends a lot of time running around with his rowdy grandkids.
THATCHER KILBRIDE
Clay’s grandson. A little quieter than his younger sister, but even more of a nuisance.
POPPY KILBRIDE
Clay’s granddaughter. The youngest of the kids and always the one getting them in trouble, unable to keep a secret as she is.
LORETTA GARROTER
Charlie's late sister and Lucille's mother.
Was a little more of an optimist than Charlie when she was alive, spent her younger years (when Charlie was off trying to make a living on Hesperis hunting bounties with their mom) off-moon looking for a life that was a little more-fulfilling and a little less violent. Charlie often sent her money when she ran into trouble. Their mother thought what she was doing was frivolous and wanted her to come home, but Charlie was supportive; envious, but hopeful that at least one of them could get out. That meant it was possible, after all.
By the time Charlie had begun her partnership with Vikor, she’d made a modest life for herself in Arcadia Fair. Unfortunately by this time she couldn’t prove herself to her mother, but she could return some favors to Charlie when she needed. A few years later she had Lucille.
Met her demise at the hands of someone who’d lost their own sibling at the hands of her older sister. Eye for an eye. This both devastated Charlie mentally and left her, a basically-nomadic professional contract-killer, the sole guardian of a toddler.
MATILDA 'TILDA' ROMAN
Major celebrity in the WI. She began as a singer, but has worked on all sorts of projects at this point in her career. She grew up in the family, just like her brother, but she never put on the rose-colored glasses like he did.
You wouldn’t be wrong if you called her a joyless workaholic, but you’d have to admit she’s done goddamn well for herself because of it.
HEIDI ROMAN
Hans' conniving, foul-mouthed, narcissistic mother.
Cantankerous mob widow who never let go of her place in the community; Never cared much for carrying out the actual business herself, but likes living the life vicariously through her son.
Thinks of herself as a matriarch among mob wives, and concerns herself with knowing absolutely everyone’s business as a result. Sometimes knows about going-ons even before Hans does, especially Hans’ going-ons. He hates this immensely.
Relies mostly on Hans' income, which he so graciously provides for her from even despite the fact that she is intolerable to be around.
Is absolutely where Hans got his pettiness from, as well as his propensity for being vulgar as hell, even if he abstains from the latter most of the time.
ANGELO ROMAN
Hans' late father, killed when he was around 13.
Was very buddy-buddy with Cagney. They worked well together, and despite Cagney’s reputation for being a neurotic egomaniac, they were close friends for over a decade. Quite literally partners-in-crime, for all the good that did him in the end.
Was a shittier person than Hans' likes to remember. Wasn’t all that loving or faithful to his mother for as much as he spoiled his kids, and he was known for taking out his anger on his underlings when he made a bad call.
Where Hans gets his ADHD/anger issues from, though he’s miles more self-aware than good ol’ dad ever was.
LLOYD ROMAN
Hans’ late cousin that he beat to death with a pool cue in a drug-induced, drooling rage. Hans’ is a little fucked-up about this, some would say traumatized.
Was a huge giant dickhead, though, so it wasn’t necessarily undeserved. Hans had hated the hell out of him ever since they got older and started their ‘careers’. Even he was off-put by Lloyd’s moral standards, not to mention his business models. So much that even before Cagney started manipulating him, he pretty much viewed Lloyd as his nemesis. His entire MO was bringing all the shit Hans had been trying to purge from Rhapsody right up to their doorstep. Still, he wasn’t really prepared to brutally murder someone he grew up taking baths with.
Hans always thought Lloyd had it much easier than him getting to where he was. Whether or not that’s true is up in the air, but it could be said that he had better luck fitting in with the mob types than Hans did.
CASSIUS 'CASH' ASHWOOD
Grew up in Eventide alongside Leroy and Nova, but he didn’t exactly have the same background. His parents were better off, even if they had fallen on hard times after a bad business venture made by his father. He had to listen to a lot of fighting about who got them stuck in this ‘wet shit of a city’ and everything they were missing living among a bunch of ‘sweaty blue-collar troglodytes’, and unfortunately internalized it.
Deeply narcissistic, even if he manages to pull the veil in front of a few people’s eyes with all his talk about activism and community and personal betterment.
Works for some questionable business firm on Chariot, in a much more menial position than he likes to advertise when he’s preening to the poor unfortunate’s back home.
VALERIA GUERRA
Leroy’s late mother, who died by her own hand when he was around 15.
Val cared a lot about her kid, but she had been in a bad state for a long time and was not equipped to raise a child. She managed as long as she did because of her will to take care of him, but once he got a little older, she got it in her head that Leroy spent more time taking care of her than she did him. She couldn’t keep it together much longer after that.
ARMANI
The asshole that thought he could run a racket in Clarion and get protection money from Jo. This went poorly from start to finish.
Had a small following of inept criminals, whomst he quickly led to ruin. He was originally a member of the WLF, but was ousted for getting caught doing the crime that eventually got him a bounty. He kept this from his people, who he was mostly just using to avoid being caught anyway.
Vikor turns him into ground beef (with help from Leroy) in Leroy's introductory arc.
A few of his people from Clarion hold a big fat dangerous grudge against Leroy indefinitely, or at least until they realize how fast they will join Armani in ground beef town if they try anything.
JACK
Very good young bounty-hunter that manages to show up the boys basically every time they cross paths.
Spectacularly unsportsmanlike about it. It’s hard to get the boys to unanimously hate the fuck out of someone, but even Leroy is over this little shit.
